Great taste of food. It's worth the wait

Terrible terrible service, cashier is super slow. The good is alright but the service and they take over 20 minutes for a simple taco. Never the best experience here. Trust me I never complain but this place is so so sooo slow,

I love this place. Small and unassuming, it is frequently full, because the food is so good. The papusas are especially good.

It's a quaint lunch spot! $1 carne asada tacos were pretty good. I really enjoyed the loroco flower papusas! Get there before lunch, the line can be long.

Very good food, dished out in huge potions. The cuisine is heavy, to put it bluntly, but delicious. I was only able to finish two of the three gorditas I got. My wife could only finish one of her sopas. The price was very inexpensive for what we got. The service is very friendly. I only wish the place was updated a little bit. Hole-in-the-wall is an accurate description.

Excellent papusas! Shelly hand made my papusas while I waited. $1 each on Wednesdays, you can't beat that deal!

I am from Oaxaca Mexico (well know for it's great food worldwide) and I can say there are ONLY 2 places in Richmond that serve authentic Mexican food. These are Shelly's and Tacos Mexico on Jeff. Davis

A great authentic experience for anyone only familiar with texmex style Mexican food. They press the tortillas and cook them to order. Even the leftovers look amazing!

It's probably not going to get any more original than this, their food is more authentic and probably one of the best things they have is the fresh-made tortillas right there on the spot.It could be a little bit more spacious to be more comfortable.

One dollar Taco Tuesday! You get a corn tortilla, protein of your choice, cilantro, and onion. They're pretty tasty and I really liked the Horchata. Friendly staff who speak both English and Spanish. Great!

I am originally from California and have had a tough time finding tacos that remind me of home. This place delivered, it is just like the taco stands in Mexico. It is legitimately amazing.

One of my "go-to" spots for great eats! I don't speak a lick of Spanish and they are able to decipher exactly what I want every time. They are very patient with me and super friendly. The food...OH, MAN! Outstanding! I have tried almost everything. Standouts for me would be the Pupusas and any of their Tortas. Don't even get me started on their homemade hot sauces! Go for the roja if you like it hot.

Place is extremely filthy and when asked for a seat "sit anywhere you like" but all the tables were still dirty with left over food on it and there was only 2 tables being occupied. So took one of the open ones and behold the picture below. Since I am from out of town I wanted to try this place out and should of stuck with my gut instinct. Despite hardly anyone here still took 15 mins to get someone ( some to come to the table (with no menu). I had to ask for that and when menu given to me. She stood right there and asked if I was ready to order 30 seconds afterwards. When I asked for more time didn't know it would take her another 15 mins to come back ( now there is only me another person in there) food was ordered and came back fast. I ordered the chicken tacos and this was the most blandest spanish food I have ever had. Though I am in and out of Richmond I Won't be back here😏😫

The food was pretty good compared to other places I've visited. I had the Pastor tacos. The meat had a nice flavor but was a bit dry for my preference. Also the tortillas were a bit tough which tends to play a big role in a taco for me. I would recommend it for anyone trying out Latin food. The service was pretty good, too.

Best Mexican food I've ever had! (And we used to live in Colorado). I've eaten here twice now (if we lived closer I'd eat here multiple times each week). I was kind of afraid I'd built it up too much in my memory. Nope, just as good as I'd remembered. Fantastic food, handmade, right off the grill, with optional homemade habanero sauce if you like a nice burn.

Ms. Shelly and her small restaurant has become a real hit with me and many Latinos. Everything are Ms. Shelly recipes, and all are homemade. Even the chips for dipping into her Salsa are outstanding. I love the Green salsa as it is loaded with lots of flavor and just the right amount of Heat. Ms. Shelly Papusas are a must. When Winter comes around, her big bowls of chicken or beef soup really hit the spot. Oh, don't forget to order the tacos... Wow! What can I say, I like eating at Shelly's....

Fresh tortillas and amazing carne asada tacos!

This place it's is pretty good. I total recomend because for the flavor of the food. I ordered a "birria" and my wife ordered "mix fajitas" it was so delicious, never tested this kind of flavor. They served good food, big portions and more cheap than other places.Definitely I'll come back.

1) Background music too loud! some times I feel like I'm at a Mexican "cantina"2) Slow service.3) They don't bring the full order to your table , example; table of 3 people. Each one of these people will get their food at a different time4) Not real Mexican food but close enough.
